From the designer —
Emily Tufton was 12 years old and the daughter of a bootmaker. The family was living in Bath, England when she created her lovely sampler in 1865. She included a verse titled ‘On Christmas’, in bright red along with three other verses on her sampler. Cross Stitch over 2 was used for most of the sampler with Cross Stitch over 1 for the Christmas Verse and Emily’s name.
