This sampler was obtained from the Steven and Carol Huber Collection who provided this accompanying information: Jane was the middle child of eleven born in 1813 to Cyrus Milner and Sarah Carter whose initials Jane stitched in the bottom cartouche (CM SM). She stitched this intricate and colorful sampler at the age of seventeen. At age 22, on New Year’s Eve day, she married Jacob Levi Kerk and they became parents to seven children. Jane died at age 59 and was buried in Eastlands Friends Burial Ground, Little Britain, Lancaster.
