The inspiration for this sampler came while singing the hymn “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” at a friend’s funeral. Commonly known by the title “The Navy Hymn,” this hymn is often sung at funerals of those who have served in the Navy. It is also sung at the launching of ships. Other verses have been written for all branches of the military service.
“Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!”
