Sarah’s Christmas Urn by Shakespeare’s Peddler

$6.00

From the designer —

One of the antique samplers in my collection was stitched in 1831 by 11-year-old Sarah Chapple. Her sampler features a lovely, big red house, birds, a swooping inner border, and two of these beautiful urns full of flowers. When I was looking to create an ornament for this issue, I thought the urns looked very Christmas-y, even though it’s not a Christmas sampler. Red, greens, pale gold. Stitching antique sampler motifs for your tree is a great way to connect yourself to stitchers of the past, and isn’t connection to the those before us part of what we celebrate at Christmas?
