GLOBAL NEEDLEWORK COMMUNITY
From designer Kathy Barrick –
As most of you have probably heard, my daughter, Liz, of Hello From Liz Mathews, recently acquired my sister’s business Carriage House Samplings. Most of you probably also know that I was the original owner of Carriage House Samplings. My sister Marty, has retired and will now be spending her days doing her first love, oil painting. I’m so happy for her! And, I’m very happy that Liz will now have my original artwork and my sister’s as well!
When Liz decided to take on Carriage House, she asked me if there were any of my old designs I’d like. I knew instantly what I wanted! My stockings!!
So, my old stocking designs, and Marty’s one stocking design are now mine! I’m so excited! I’ve spent days and days working on them; editing them a bit, and creating sampler versions of the designs. I’ve had two of them re-stitched and Marty provided me with the original stitched pieces she had. Interestingly, my Mom stitched the Virtuous Woman Stocking for Marty on Aida. This was a surprise to me and the timing could not have been better since my Mom passed away in late December.

I’ll be releasing four of these designs at Market. They are: Sampler Stocking, Noah’s Stocking, Virtuous Woman Stocking and Skating Santa Stocking. I’ve tweaked the stockings a bit and created sampler versions of each. The photos aren’t quite ready yet, but will be soon and I’ll share them with you then. There are four more stocking designs that I’ll be releasing at Needlework Marketplace in August. I hope to have at least one more stocking designed by then too.
Satsuma Street lovers – Due to the changes in the perforated paper product, her wonderful ornament kits will not be available in Nashville or until further notice. We do have few in stock, but once they’re gone, we have to wait for the revamp.
Perforated PVC is in! I confess, as a perforated paper lover, I was skeptical, but this is a really good product! I spoke with Frony Ritter of Frony Ritter Designs who does a ton of design work on perforated paper and she said she’s quite happy with it. The finished product is practically indistinguishable! All very exciting news indeed. Now maybe we can get black in cuz I’ve had an order in since before the shop opened and still don’t have it. Lol
NASHVILLE – 2026 Nashville Needlework Market
We leave Thursday. Can you believe it? Holy moly! If you haven’t had a chance to browse the above site, now is good! Let me know if there’s something in particular you want and I’ll do my best to get it. I’m already receiving word of sell outs on some items. Such beauties await! Will be posting from Nashville this year because there are designs that we haven’t received advance notice on. Will get them up as quickly as possible for you to order so that I can try to bring home the right quantities. Life is good!

SUNDAY STITCH NITES
UPDATE: As I sit here stressing about tomorrow night, I realize that I just have to make the decision so that you all can make alternate plans.
If you haven’t heard, I have pneumonia, again. It’s really kicking me to the curb right now. Fever is gone, but I’m slow to bounce back. In addition, WE HAVE NO PARKING. The snow is monopolizing so many spaces which leaves us with barely 10 spots. Not near enough to accommodate everyone. So, that being said. And this pains me as I long to sit with you all and relax. Laugh. Enjoy your company. But, NO STITCH NITE on March 1.
Next Stitch Nite is Sunday, Mar. 29, 4:30-8PM. Slight schedule change because of the Pajama Party so check your calendar. If you’re previously registered and your plans have changed, please let me know sooner rather than later. Let’s hope the snow doesn’t cause additional cancellations!
Wanna join going forward? Would LOVE for you to. It’s a great way to meet fellow stitchers, make new friends and surround yourself with goodness! You can register in advance. Just let me know to add you on which dates to make sure you have a seat at the table.
No fee, but registration is required so we ensure there are seats for all. We set up differently depending on how many are coming. There’s room at the table. Let me know if we’re setting a place for you. 🙂
2026 Future Dates – Mar. 29, Apr. 19, May 3, May 17, June 7, June 21, July 12 (one week later cuz of Fourth of July), July 19, Aug. 2, Aug. 16, Sept. 13 (one week later cuz of Labor Day), Sept. 20, Oct. 4, Oct. 18, Nov. 1, Nov. 15, Dec. 6 (final for 2026)
If there is a need to cancel, it will be posted online via Facebook and the website (threadedneedle.org).
CLUBS, CLUBS and CLUBS
Confession time: As much fun as these are, I love them, it is true that they really aren’t attended well. During the winter, it’s just too cold & icky out to venture out from under the blankets. 😀 And when the weather is nice, there’s just so much going on. More oft than not, it’s a party of one with me, myself and I or only one other person comes. When that happens we have a great time. Truly. I love smaller group sessions and getting to know you all.
However, it might be better to try to find a better time that works for folks. We’ve tried Wednesdays for a while now, let me know if there is a better time that you’d like to try.
The Sampler Club remains active, but we will shut down the others for now.
Let me know what appeals to you. I want you to feel that this is your shop. That your input has value. Because it does. Let me know what you think!
Sampler Club: Apr. 1 (no foolin’!), 6:30-8:30PM
Every 1st Wednesday of the month, except March because of Nashville & the Pajama Party, is a time to gather and work on whatever sampler you have going or starting. Only sampler stitching on this day. 😀 Registration required, but no fee. 🙂 As always, let me know if your plans change so I can reach out to those waiting. 2026 Dates: May 6, June 2, July 1, Aug. 4, Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, Dec. 1 (final for 2026)
Space is limited for each night, so registration is a must. Sampler Club night is truly so much fun! Great conversation. Small group. Wonderful friends.
