INDUSTRY NEWS
A few months ago, I posted that the Kreiniks had retired and sold their business to Rainbow Gallery. Very interesting. We were assured that there wouldnโ€™t be an interruption in product availability; however, that has not been the case. For most of December, my weekly orders were shorted and no blending filament or braid came in.

To stem my own frustration, I asked. If thereโ€™s an issue I want to be up front about it so we are all on the same page. Heard back and hereโ€™s the scoop โ€“ Kreinik threads will now appear in two formats โ€“ the traditional reels and and now cards just like the Rainbow Gallery thread line. Same product, just displayed in two ways. For me, Iโ€™ll get them in however I can. Am not gonna be choosy on cards or reels as bottomline, we want their fabulous threads for our needlework, not the cards and spools they come on. ๐Ÿ˜€ Sounds like itโ€™s just a transitional production issue and should settle down in 2025. Thanks for all your patience while they shift their production.

1897 Schoolhouse Samplers has made a business decision to focus on building her needlework community in Canada, her home, vs. into the States. We do carry some of her samplers and will continue to do so until we canโ€™t get them anymore.

Santa had his turn and now itโ€™s yours! Time to check your stash and make your list of what you need for 2025! Or at least for January. ๐Ÿ˜€ Effective now through January 5th EVERYTHING in the shop (minus custom orders) is 25% or more off!

THREADS & PAGES (aka Book Club :D)

Here we go! First Book Club session is Wednesday, January 15 6:30-8:30PM at the shop. If youโ€™ve already read it, come anyway and letโ€™s talk! If you read it and hated it, letโ€™s talk about that, too! Itโ€™s been a quick read and am almost done with it. Bring your stitching cuz we can multi-task by stitching and chatting about the book. Purchase your copy from your favorite bookstore. No fee to participate, but registration is required.

The next date will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, 6:30-8:30PM.

SUNDAY STITCH NITES
This event has been so popular and sooooooooooo much fun that we are adding a second night! Stitch Nites are now the first & third Sundays, for the most part. Life may change that up a bit, but thatโ€™s the plan.

Although thereโ€™s no fee, Registration is required to ensure we have space for all. Our next nite is Sunday, January 5. Please confirm with me that youโ€™re attending if you havenโ€™t already.

Had a question about the new night โ€“

Q: Can we attend both or do we have to pick one per month?
A: You can attend any that work in your schedule. Love seeing you and think itโ€™s awesome that folks want to come to both. Come to one or both! Either is fine.

Here are the dates for Sunday Stitch Nites through June 2025 โ€”

Jan. 5, Jan. 19, Feb. 2, Feb. 16,  Mar. 2, Mar. 23, Apr. 6, Apr.27,   May 4, June 1, June 22

FINISHING

Five stitches in addition to the cross stitch and cutwork. You will need sharp scissors for the cutting. Cutting is easiest if in a hoop or Q-snap. Prework is necessary so that we can jump right into the hardanger part. Kit will be given out prior to class so that you can stitch the three roses.

Condolences

It is with heavy hearts that Hoffman Distributing Company, Inc.  announces that Chery Walker, of CW Designs and Graphs By Barbara And Chery passed away on December 7th, 2024.  Cheryl was a beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend. She brought warmth and joy to all who knew her and filled our lives with love, laughter, and creativity. She turned her artistic passion, cross stitch, into a successful business for over 30 years. She leaves a lasting mark on this craft, and is widely recognized for her intricate and original designs and will be remembered for her contributions to the cross-stitch industry.

We offer our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Cherylโ€™s estate has elected not to keep her businesses open.  As of December 30th, 2024 both CW Designs and Graphs By Barbara and Cheryl will be closed.  If you have models or just enjoy her patterns, this will be the last day to purchase her items.

Sincerely,
Hoffman Distributing Company, INC

28 ct. Vintage Blue Whisper Cashel — Discontinued

After trying to order this multiple times each month for months now, I finally received notice from Fleur de Paris about its availability. They are the sole U.S. distributor for this fabric and unfortunately it has been discontinued —

From the distributor —

Hi Alice,

I apologize that nobody explained this to you. Zweigart discontinued this color, and it is no longer available.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. As we are only the distributor, we cannot control what they decide to continue producing.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Fleur de Paris

Such a lovely color. It is still available in 32 ct. ~Alice

A Message from Teresa Kogut

For those waiting for her newest designs to arrive… myself included ๐Ÿ˜€ Received this email today and thought I’d share —

Hey friends,

Thank you for your order of our new Christmas releases. We appreciate your business.

If you received a confirmation email after you placed your order online, that means we got your order.

As you can imagine, we have a fat stack of orders and we are working through them as quickly as possible. We’re a small operationโ€ฆ.just Kevin and Kyle work on packing and shipping because there’s no room for anyone else to work over there.

They do their best to fill the orders in the order they were received. When we have a new release it usually takes 2 weeks to work through them all. We started shipping Monday, November 18th so it’s only been a week and a day. With Thanksgiving only a couple of days away, it will take longer than 2 weeks this time.

We’re sorry but we can’t tell you where you are in the queue. We are getting many emails asking this question and we understand but we can’t possibly check for everyone who’s asking as it takes time away from getting the orders out the door.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving!

============================

Yes, I do have the confirmation email so all we can do is wait. It’s a bummer when something so wonderful is out there! Hope this helps. ๐Ÿ™‚ ~Alice

INDUSTRY NEWS
Below is an excerpt from an email received from Wichelt Imports, the sole U.S. distributor of all things Mill Hill. Itโ€™s actually very exciting to hear that thereโ€™s a new partnership between Wichelt and Just Another Button Company who will supply all their buttons for their kits and will eventually replace all buttons used in the various charts out there.

Itโ€™s been impossible to get them in when ordered and now we know why. There will be a transition period, of course, but JABC products are beautiful, well-made and really accent any piece they are used in. Hereโ€™s a clip from the actual email that explains whatโ€™s going on โ€“

NEEDLEWORK MARKETPLACE

This virtual tradeshow was insane! Designers absolutely outdid themselves with soooooooooo many new designs. Some have come in while the majority should arrive this week into next. As you walk into the shop there is an area set up on the right with every new chart that has come in. It changes almost daily!

2024 Virtual Needlework Marketplace <— This hyperlink takes you to a page where every chart is listed. It will say “in stock” if it’s come in. You are welcome to let me know if you want one held for you or mailed. Glad to do it!

An extraordinary number of new designers presented for the first time at this show. Here’s a list for you along with links to their dedicated pages that feature the charts we’re carrying. ENJOY!

FIELD TRIP

I have had the incredible honor of talking with the folks at the Grafton HIstorical Society. They have a wonderful collection of samplers created by former Grafton residents as well as beautiful needlework on music bags and such. On Wednesday, 9/18 at 6PM, meet me at the shop. As soon as we’re closed am heading over there and would LOVE to share the experience with you. It’s powerful for sure. While the Society is open to the public, space is limited. I don’t want to overwhelm them with our enthusiasm. ๐Ÿ˜€ For this reason, please give me a call and register so I know how many are coming. If we have a big number, we can do it in 2 sessions, 6-7 and 7-8. It won’t take a full hour, but man is it inspirational! Hope you can join me! There is no charge for this little trip. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Just pure joy in seeing what was created oh so long ago.

************SOMETHING NEW!!!!************

Looking for a place to meet your friends and stitch for a couple hours? I can help! From 9-11AM on Wednesdays, reserve the Flavin Table (that’s our stitching table) for you and 5 of your friends (max group size is 6). The shop isn’t open yet, but will be for you all. Grab your coffee or favorite drink, your stitching and meet your friends for a stich-along. Shop opens at 11, but until then it’s yours.

No charge for this but you do have to reserve the table. Just give me a call, email or stop by to reserve the table and time.

Just to clarify —

Out of respect for copyright, we are not able to accept returns on charts. I do thank you for understanding and supporting their designs. Same is true for threads and custom cuts on fabric. Thank you for understanding and supporting my commitment to protect copyright.

If you ask to have something pulled and held for you, gosh I’m thrilled to do so! Can hold it for you for 2 weeks, many times longer if possible. After that, it may go back out, but am always happy to order another for you if we are sold out.

And I do believe that’s a wrap! I’m sure there’s more I should tell you, but writing a novel wasn’t my intent. ๐Ÿ˜€ You can follow us on Instagram and Facebook for up-to-the-minute stuff.

Thank you so much for a fabulous August. See you soon either online or in person.  ~Alice
